Maintaining your Furnace Unit 

The cleaning of your furnace is vital to the way your system functions. There are two parts of your furnace that Safe House focuses on when cleaning. The blower and the coils are the two most important parts of your system. The purpose of your blower is to keep your home at the temperature you set on your thermostat, blowing the air from the furnace to all the rooms in your home via your supply ducts. The other vital part of your furnace unit is your coils better known as the evaporator coils. During the winter your coils work as a heat exchange consuming the heat properly so that your blower can distribute the heat effectively. Neglecting your coils and not cleaning them can lead to a 70% reduction of functionality in your system. Costing you way more on your energy bill due to the amount of gas and energy the furnace is using to keep running. 

 Our Furnace Cleaning Process 

 There are two ways to clean your furnace. There is a “Maintenance” cleaning where we go in with a HEPA filtered HVAC Vacuum cleaning system and remove all dirt,dust and debris from the furnace. It is a pretty simple cleaning and it is catered to mostly people who regularly maintain their system. What we mean by regularly maintaining your system is cleaning your air ducts every 2-5 years, replacing your filter every 1-3 months depending on how often you use your system. The furnace filter blocks debris and dirt from getting into your system. However, in a case where a furnace has a dirty filter we have to realize this is causing a strain on how your furnace operates to keep your house warm and it of course leads to higher energy bills. 

 Another way Safe House Cleans your Furnace is a “ Deep Clean”. This is a cleaning where we go into your furnace and remove the blower. When removing the blower from your furnace we do a blade by blade pressure wash, we also sanitize it with our green solution that is human and pet friendly. Safe House doesn’t believe in using chemicals simply because all that has to do with your furnace and air ducts affects your breathing. When deep cleaning the coils we take a gentle brush to the fins they bend easily so you must be careful. After this we also sanitize your coils to prevent any growth of mold or mildew. 

What if there is mold and mildew in the furnace?

 We often think that our furnace unit is just for heating and cooling which is true but there are many other functions. Your furnace also works as a dehumidifier for your home meaning it removes moisture from circulating air. This condensation goes through your PVC line and if there is a clog then it can also leak and seem like your furnace is leaking water. The presence of water whether it is getting disposed of correctly or not should raise an extra kind of awareness . The growth of bacteria is not unlikely in the presence of water and moisture.
